Steven Griffin “Griffin Cosplay”

Cosplayer and Costume Judge for Con

Animatic Con would like to welcome Steven Griffin of Griffin Cosplay.  We are looking forward to his involvement in our Cosplay Costume judging events in 2016.

stevengriffin_cosplaySteven Griffin is a cosplayer from Dayton, Ohio. He grew up a couple of blocks a way from a convenience store that had a small spinning rack of different comic books. Every week from the time he was a child he took his allowance and bought every comic book that he could afford off of that rack no matter what the title was. As he got older he really gravitated toward super hero comics. Specifically Batman and Daredevil. This trend continues today.

His first exposure to Cosplay came from Wizard World Chicago 2003, At the time the costumes were few and far between but he always thought how awesome it would be to own such cool costumes. Over the years Steven would go to different conventions in the mid-west and always enjoyed seeing the people in costume.  It was in 2013 that Steven would decide to start on his first costume. He did his research and reached out to people to help him make his Red Hood costume.

In the past year he was blown away by how accepting and willing to help everyone in the cosplay community was. This is when he really fell in love with it. He found a community of positive people who always encourage each other and he felt like he fit right in.  It was the community that encouraged him to grow his collection of costumes, start building things on his own when possible, and start traveling around to different conventions making new friends along the way. It was also the catalyst that would start the Griffin Cosplay Blog for Ghettoblaster Magazine as well as his mission to try and help spread the positivity that he found in the cosplay community to others.
